Details for the much anticipated Martin Mars Bombers Farewell Party

Dear Community Members,

I wanted to provide you with a few details for the much-anticipated “Farewell Party for the Martin Mars Water Bombers”. Please join us on July 27th from 11am to 3pm at our community hall, courts, and the bomber base, for a day filled with celebration and memories.

Important Information:

There Will Be Limited Parking: We strongly encourage carpooling, riding, or walking to the event. If you live nearby, please consider inviting your friends/family to park in your driveway so they can walk to the event with you. Please be aware that Bomber Base Road will be closed to vehicle traffic once the parking lots are full.

Bomber Base Road: Bomber Base Road will be closed until 10:30am so please do not arrive before this time. Only registered volunteers will be permitted access before 10:30 am. We appreciate your cooperation while we allow our volunteers to arrive efficiently and get set up for the event.

Parking Lots: There will be parking on the upper field and limited parking in the lower parking lot. We kindly ask that you please follow the directions given to you by our parking team and that you do not leave excessive space between your vehicle and the vehicle next to you.

No Smoking: There will be no smoking anywhere on the property or at the bomber base. This will be strictly enforced.

Alcohol and Drug Substances Prohibited: The consumption or possession of alcohol and drug substances during the event is strictly prohibited. This will be strictly enforced.

Wheelchair access: Wheelchair access to the hall and the courts will be available at the back of the hall. Please ask one of our volunteers if assistance is required to navigate the inclined ramps.

Handicap Drop-off: The back of the hall will be designated for handicap drop-off only. No parking will be allowed in this area. Handicap parking is available but may fill up.

Bomber Base: The Bomber Base will be open to pedestrians and will provide exterior only photo opportunities of Philippine, and Hawaii (in the water). There will be no interior tours. While at the bomber base property, we kindly ask that you follow any direction given to you by our security team.

No Water Access: There will be no access by water to the Bomber Base property.

Our Volunteers: Our volunteers will be wearing red “bomber” shirts with “volunteer” name tags.

Washrooms: There are washroom inside the hall and there will also be portable washrooms just outside the back door of the hall to the left; or just outside the courts to the right.

Food Concession: Get yourself a Bomber Dog and Soft Drink for $5.00. The concession will be located inside the hall.

The Snack Bar: The Snack Bar will also be inside the hall and feature soft drinks, frozen treats and other snack food items. The snack bar is cash only please.

50/50 Draws: Two separate draws will take place, one at 1pm and the other at 3pm. Tickets for the 1pm draw will be sold from 11am to 12:45pm. Tickets for the 3pm draw will be sold from 12:45pm to 2:45pm. You must be present for the draw to win. Tickets will be 3 for $5.00 and will be sold under the tent just to the right of the stage and around the courts/hall by ticket sellers. Good luck to all!

Raffle Tickets: The remaining “Be a Bomber VIP” raffle tickets will also be for sale under the tent just to the right of the stage. The winner will be drawn at 3pm. Tickets are $20/each. Who wants to be a “Bomber VIP”?! 🙂

Merchandise: Bomber merchandise such as hats and t-shirts will be available for sale on court #4 (closest gate to the upper field parking). Hats and T-shirts will be $25 each.

Payment: Credit and debit cards (tap only) will be accepted, but cash is preferred.

Flight Simulator: A flight simulator will be located on the stage of the hall. If you’re interested in trying the flight simulator, we recommend arriving near the start of the event.

Guest Speakers: A lineup of guest speakers will be present to share their experiences and stories, starting at 12pm.

Live Music: Be entertained by Sproat Lake local band, 33 1/3.

Bomber Museum: Pictures and interesting bomber memorabilia will be displayed inside the hall. We ask that you please do not touch any of the items that are on display.

Door Prizes: Some exciting door prizes will be given away. Enter the draw at the raffle tent beside the stage. One entry per person please. The draw will take place near the end of the event. You do not have to be present to win.

Kid’s Corner: There will be Bomber coloring sheets and other activities for children. Parents, please do not leave your children unattended at the activity table.

Sorry, No Pets Please: We kindly ask that you please leave your pets at home.

This event promises to be a memorable occasion as we celebrate the legacy of the Martin Mars Water Bombers and the joy they have brought to our community. We look forward to seeing you there!
